Infrared Countermeasure (IRCM)
Beginning in 2003 and concluding in 2006, RERA and its joint venture partner Tekla Research Corporation were awarded SBIR Phase I and Phase II contracts to research an innovative infrared countermeasure (IRCM) technology named Aim Point Biasing. The conclusion of this research indicated that aim point biasing could be a viable technology that would reduce aircraft vulnerability from the ravages of man portable shoulder fired missiles. The photo at right is a graphic example of the aim point biasing system applied to rotary-wing aircraft.
